Notes from Last Quarter's Schedule

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION

SCHEDULE FOR JULY - SEPTEMBER 2010

GENERAL NOTES:

The deadline for requests for off-days, etc. to ensure that they can be properly considered in time before the next Schedule (OCTOBER – DECEMBER) comes out is SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 5.

Several EMHC albs (not counting the “extras”) are being stored in the Ministers’ Sacristy closet. Most have not been identified with the owner’s name. While on the surface this is not a problem, especially for those who are frequently called upon to conduct Communion Services, there is a chance that they may “walk” one day, or else be “recycled” to new members of the ministry.  It is recommended that if this note affects you, that you put some sort of identification on the hanger or elsewhere.  And before everyone thinks that storing your albs at church instead of at home is a good idea, keep in mind that there is only so much closet space available.

If anyone (other than the six I already know about) wishes to receive their EMHC schedules electronically via e-mail instead of hard copy, let me know and together we’ll save a tree.

Thanks to all who attended the Holy Thursday Mass in April.  Seems like a long time ago, doesn’t it?  Counting the foot-washing representatives and members of the choir, we had 48 of our number in attendance.  That’s very good.

Please plan to attend the Forty Hours Closing (in albs) on Tuesday, September 7, at 7:00 PM.   We will meet in the Parish Center at 6:45 PM (the Bulletin may say 6:30, but you don’t have to be there that early, unless you want to partake of the delicious coffee brewing in the kitchen!)

FORTY HOURS ADORATION SCHEDULE:

NOTE—The wearing of your alb during your period of adoration is recommended.  This is a change from the past. The reason is that not all of our EMHC’s know everyone else, so it is not always easy to be able to identify one’s replacement.  By following this recommendation, if someone comes into the church wearing an alb, there’s a pretty good chance that the EMHC replacement has arrived, and it’s not just a non-EMHC parishioner coming for adoration.

REMINDER—“The Most Holy Sacrament, when exposed, must never be left unattended even for the briefest space of time. It should therefore be arranged that at least some of the faithful always be present at fixed times.…”

(Section 138 of “Redemptionis Sacramentum”)

Therefore it is incumbent that the following ensure that s/he obtain a substitute if unable to meet his/her period of adoration.
