MISSION
OF SERVICE

COLLEGE MILITARY OUTREACH

General Purpose: To assist and communicate with parishioners who are away at college or are in the military.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parishioners donate supplies, such as: pens, pencils, notepads, gum and snacks which are mailed biannually toyoung people of the parish who are either attending college or are in the military.

FOOD BANK

General Purpose: To collect and distribute food donations from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish to the Mechanicsburg and Dillsburg centers of New Hope Ministries.

On the first Sunday of each month, parishioners are asked to bring non-perishable food items and household staples to donate to the needy of the area. This is done through the food bank at New Hope Ministries. After the 11:00 AM Sunday Mass, St. Elizabeth food bank volunteers collect the items that were left at the entrances to the church during the weekend Masses, and they then deliver them to the designated center on Monday. Delivery alternates between Mechanicsburg and Dillsburg centers monthly.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

The Knights of Columbus is an international organization of Catholic laymen. They are involved in parish life at all levels and in various ministries of the church. The organization provides assistance to the church with financial contributions as well as with manpower and other voluntary activities.

Membership is open to practicing Catholic men over 18 years of age.

MESSIAH COLLEGE TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE

General Purpose: To provide transportation to Masses for students attending MessiahCollege.

Interested parishioners drive Messiah College students who need transportation to the 9:00 AM Sunday Mass and to Masses on Holy Days.

MISSION PROJECT

General Purpose: To sponsor a social action project outside the parish that reflects the life and teaching of Christ.

As part of the Mission of Service, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish adopts a project that extends its assistance to the needy beyond the parish boundaries. The mission project may vary from year to year after consultation with the Parish Pastoral Council. At present, the parish project is the Special Needs Apostolate of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Harrisburg. Offerings in the mission project boxes at the exits to the church fund this endeavor.

RESPECT FOR LIFE

General Purpose: To inform parishioners of respect life issues and to involve them in related projects.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish attempts to educate its parishioners on topics that deal with respect for life, and it encourages individuals to support organizations that promote the value of each and every life, born and unborn. Although the degree to which individuals can contribute may vary, the parish urges all members of the parish to profess their pro-life position.

SHAWL MINISTRY

General Purpose: To combine the love and care of knitting (crochet) into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace.

On the second Thursday of every month, parishioners meet after the 9:00 AM Mass in the Parish Center to knit or crochet shawls, which are presented to individuals who are in need of comfort. Throughout the creation of the shawls, prayers are offered for the intentions of the recipient. Recipients may include those undergoing medical procedures, as a comfort after a loss, during bereavement, or for those during or recovering from an illness.
